		<description>Very nice article… Finally someone calling things by its name. As someone with 10 years of experience as creative in the advertising field in Argentina, I was shocked by the “spanish oriented” advertising that is going on here. From the idea that we all speak the same Spanish (what we don’t) to the basic level of ads that are just in Spanish but with no idea whatsoever in them I was kind of happy that I have turned from advertising to the online world some time ago… I couldn’t work as a creative here, if the idea of ‘Latino oriented ads’ is going to be just a bland mix of soccer, some extended family and the latin ‘passion’… but it seems that is what some clients want or what some ad agencies are telling their clients is enough to get us.

Well, it is not, because the ‘us’ when it comes to Latinos or Hispanics is far from a unified group!</description>

The trend has been there, questioning the big agencies, questioning the paternalistic approach to the market...

And guess what? We, translators, serving agencies and other companies alike, also use creative ideas to adjust and change, sometimes from the concept to the tone, becauuse original copy is sometimes as boring as rice and beans. Maybe we are the subsidy to many in the creative industries... but since this is is an art and a science... we have fun and clients keep coming back.
