Names John H. Kessler to Board of Directors
(West Palm Beach, FL – July 2, 2012) William A. Meyer, Chairman of the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, today announced that Palm Beach resident John H. Kessler has been named to the nonprofit organization’s Board of Directors. Also announced was the election of the officers for the organization.
Over a dozen Broadway and international artists, including cast members from hit shows "The Lion King", "Fela", "Bring It On", "Book of Mormon", and the original productions of "In The Heights", "Swing!" and "Kiss of the Spider Woman", among others, will donate their time as volunteer teachers for R.Evolución Latina's "5th Annual Dare to Go Beyond (D2GB) Children's Performing Arts Camp", scheduled for July 16-20 in New York City.
National Hispana Leadership Institute Celebrates the Graduating Class of the Latinas Learning to Lead Program
Washington, D.C. -- The National Hispana Leadership Institute is proud to celebrate the graduation of their 20 outstanding fellows from the 2012, Latinas Learning to Lead class.
The graduation ceremony was held Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 6:30pm, at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. The keynote address was given by NHLI Advancing Latina Leaders in Nonprofit 2012 alumna, Cecilia Majors, who is the Associate Manager of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute.
Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, is a life-long educator and an active member of her community. As Second Lady, Dr. Biden works to bring attention to the sacrifices made by military families, to highlight the importance of community colleges to America’s future, and to raise awareness around areas of particular importance to women, including breast cancer prevention. Dr. Biden also continues to teach English full- time at a community college in nearby Virginia.
Washington, DC –Today, the United States Supreme Court held that three of the four provisions of Arizona’s notorious S.B. 1070 law are preempted by federal immigration law. The Supreme Court held that states do not have the authority to establish and regulate state enforcement regarding the treatment of the immigrant community.
