Mr. Montaner, I think you have a valid and well documented program about South Florida and Latin America. I am not knocking that effort but I do feel that you and the other people who have access to the latino community should be applying your efforts at this time to having the South Florida residents fully understand what is currently happening in our U.S. Senate.
I agree with the process of Immigration eform taking place but I don't agree with how the proposed law is currently written. I think most of those ethnitic background latino people who read your articles would agree with me that a large part of the proposed law is unrealistic.
Please apply yourself to educating your website viewers to what is happening and to getting those people to apply pressure to those who represent them in our congress to at least give us a "fair" approach to immigration reform. I want the people who are here now and who are undocumented to have an opportunity to become legal - without having to sell their "grandmother" to pay for that privlege. Up to $9,000.00 for a family of four to pay the fines and fees associated with becoming a legal resident is totally unrealistic. To get that changed we need for each of them to be screeming at the lawmakers to do away with that high cost.
As it is currently written it will be years - at least 8 years - before anyone would have a chance to become a valid legal resident. Does that make sense to you?
Please apply your efforts to educating your latino viewers to what is happening and get their efforts focused on forcing a change to the law.
